About the Journal

Publishing is one of the most important functions of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in fulfilling its core mission. Ilim Publishing House was established in accordance with Order No. 53 of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan dated January 9, 1964, and Resolution No. 6 of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR dated April 7, 1964. Over the course of its existence, Ilim Publishing House has published numerous journals, books, and various publications, which have undoubtedly formed a vast knowledge base and scientific achievements of research institutions, universities, and scientists throughout our country.

The publishing house's achievements were particularly significant during the Soviet years, when it published not only numerous journals but also monographs by the country's leading scientists, who applied their discoveries to space exploration, discovered diverse sources of raw materials for the civilian and defense industries, and developed new technologies and equipment. The publication of scientific journals and scientific papers (monographs), which present the research results of scientists and research teams at the National Academy of Sciences, is not only a report on the work of research institutions (NRUs) and an indicator of the level of academic science, but also the final stage of research, marking the beginning of the practical application of scientific achievements.

The publishing activities of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), which are an important stage of scientific research and culminate in the publication of scientific papers (monographs) and journals containing the results of the achievements of scientists of the Kyrgyz Republic and the research institutions of the NAS, largely determine the results of its activities in terms of the development of science in the Kyrgyz Republic. On July 7, 2024, the Ilim Information and Publishing Center under the Presidium of the NAS was registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic and received the name "Ilim Information and Publishing Center of the NAS of the KR."

The publishing house publishes monographs by academicians and professors in print runs of 100-200 copies, as well as abstracts and dissertations by doctoral candidates. The Ilim Information and Publishing Center also developed a dedicated current website, which provides information on scientific activities. The Ilim Information and Publishing Center uses the website to cover scientific conferences and events, promoting and popularizing science and scientific activity. Currently, the Ilim Information and Publishing Center publishes the quarterly journal "Izvestiya NAS KR" in electronic format.
